About You
You’re great with numbers and highly organized. You love problem solving and making lots of intricate pieces fit together. You have an eye for details and appreciate the importance of keeping accurate records. You work well independently and have excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate has previous education or practical experience in bookkeeping and accounting.

The Gig
You’ll work with Benifactor’s Finance team to ensure the timely upkeep of Benifactor’s financial records. You will assist in managing Benifactor’s day-to-day accounting and finance activities.
Major Responsibilities
Act with integrity, confidentiality, and accountability at all times
Verify, allocate, and post details of all business transactions and otherwise manage the books of parent and subsidiary accounts in journals or computer files from documents, such as sales slips, invoices, receipts, check stubs, and computer printouts
Regularly reconcile and balance all accounts
Draw up financial statements (trial balance, income statement, balance sheet)
Collate and analyze account data and generate financial reports
Calculate and prepare tax payments
Assist with budget preparation
Assist with audits
Maintain complete filing system to support financial records
Other project based work that may be assigned from time to time
The Must Haves
Previous education or practical experience in bookkeeping and accounting
General knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
Ability to organize complex information neatly and accurately
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets (or similar)
Ability to analyze and solve problems
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing, in English
The Nice to Haves
Certification in accounting, finance, or business
Experience working with nonprofits or charities
Experience with Xero accounting tool
Understanding of online tools like Slack, Google Apps, Asana, etc.
Role Requirements:
Working on site at Benifactor headquarters in beautiful downtown Victoria, BC.
Use of own tools (computer, phone) with $50 tech credit reimbursement for each.
Status
